Can I bring a partner or colleague to stay at The Doll House during my residency?

  • Each residency is for a single artist only; no overnight pairs or groups are permitted.

Are animals allowed inside The Doll House?

  • Only service and emotional support animals permitted.

Are there any fees attached to the application process?

  • The Doll House has zero application fees.

Who will have access to submissions?

  • Only K.C. and Evan Mead-Brewer will ever have access to submitted information and materials.

Do residencies require any scholarships or funding?

  • All residencies are fully funded and entirely free.

Is there any financial aid for artists who need to fly, train, or drive long-distance?

  • Travel assistance is available upon request.

How do I get to The Doll House from the airport or train station?

  • Cabs and ride-shares are easy to come by in Baltimore. If you are flying into BWI or training into Penn Station, we can also arrange for personal pick-up and drop-off.

What is the kitchen situation like at The Doll House?

  • The Doll House has a full kitchen that is freshly stocked before each residency.

Are the barn doors on the main floor ever opened up?

  • The barn doors are functional but require two people to operate; let us know if you’d like to have the doors open.

Is smoking allowed inside The Doll House?

  • Smoking is prohibited inside, but there are plenty of lovely walking and outdoor spots right out the front door.

Does The Doll House provide free parking?

  • Free parking is typically available directly outside The Doll House but is not guaranteed.

How secluded is The Doll House?

  • In a city of rowhomes, The Doll House is a detached carriage house, allowing artists—particularly musicians—more elbow room to experiment and make noise. This being said, we are still part of a vibrant, busy neighborhood that should be considered and respected during your stay.

    Expect to see plenty of neighbors out and about, walking dogs and heading for coffee, kids heading to and from school, etc. Please be kind and courteous to all our neighbors.

How accessible is The Doll House to artists with disabilities?

  • We are committed to making The Doll House as accessible as possible, but there is currently a staircase leading up to the study and bedroom.

What amenities are available at The Doll House?

  • There is internet, a washing machine, washer/dryer, and printer/scanner all available for your use.
